GH softball blanked

Grand Haven's varsity softball team was shut out by Reeths-Puffer Wednesday, 10-0 in five innings.

Shelley Bultje was on the mound for the Buccaneers, her first time out in several weeks after coming back from an early-season injury. She threw three innings, allowing just one run. Chelsea Meloche came in and pitched the next two innings.

Meloche, Aimee Shumaker, Shaye Sutton and Kari Scheichtel each had hits for the Buccaneers, who play at West Ottawa Friday.

JUNIOR VARSITY: Brittany Brown pitched a complete game with seven strikouts, helping lead the Bucs to a 17-9 win over Reeths-Puffer Wednesday. Danielle Brown, Sarah Deal, Madison Testy, Kaytlin Lawrence, Brittany Brown and Marisa Enos each had RBIs for Grand Haven.
