Lakers' swim celebrates Senior Night with win

Spring Lake's swimmers celebrated Senior Night by scoring a 124-62 victory over visiting South Haven.
"The girls completed extremely well considering how tired they are," said coach Penny Zacek. "We did a lot of leg work this week, so they are pretty wiped out. To have 13 personal records turned in shows the heart that this team has.
"Tonight was parents' night and the team wanted to perform well for our seniors."
Maria Kieft, Erin Mathews, Meg Bouman and Erin Kuester teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay, while Bouman, Lauren Jerovsek, Chelsea Rick and Kieft won the 400 free relay.
Rick won the 200 freestyle, while Kieft won both the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke.
Bouman won both the 50 and 100 freestyles, while Riley Thyfault took first in the 100 butterfly and Ginny Cotterall captured the 500 free.
Mathews won the 100 breaststroke for Spring Lake.
Laker divers took first, third and fourth in a very tight diving competition, whith Becca Mumby capturing the top spot with a score of 174.20 and also qualified for the state meet int he process. Courtney Grabman was third with her best score of the year, a 170.25.
