Father, daughter accused of running prostitution ring

EAST TAWAS (AP) — A 43-year-old man and his 22-year-old daughter have been arraigned on charges related to running an Arenac County prostitution ring.

Roger Burgess of Turner Township and April Stokr of Battle Creek are being held without bond in the county jail following their arraignments Wednesday on several counts of criminal sexual conduct.

Michigan State Police said the assaults occurred at Burgess' home during a two-year period that ended more than a year ago. Authorities said the parents of a 14-year-old girl reported their daughter had been assaulted at the home. Police also said the girl and others were forced into prostitution.

A status conference has been set for Monday.
