Man, 84, convicted in 1991 Mich. bank heist

Fri, May 16, 2008    to del.icio.us

SAUGATUCK (AP) — An 84-year-old Chicago man has pleaded guilty to taking part in a 1991 stickup that mirrored a Hollywood movie and netted $359,628 from a Michigan bank.

Carmine Jannece eluded authorities for 17 years before his February arrest in Chicago.

Jannece and three other men robbed the Citizens Trust and Savings Bank in Saugatuck while wearing masks of ex-presidents.

Jannece's co-conspirators were arrested earlier.

Jannece faces up to nine years in prison when he's sentenced July 25 in federal court.
