GH lacrosse advances to finals in O-K Rainbow tournament

Grand Haven defeated visiting Grand Rapids Christian on Thursday, 11-9 to advance to the championship game of the O-K Rainbow Conference Tournament. The Bucs will face Holland Christian on Tuesday at Buccaneer Stadium.

81-year-old Holland man swamps boat, then swims it to shore

 Bill VandeBerg, 81, of Holland, swamped his boat and fell into Stearn's Bayou while netting a fish. He was able to swim to shore, pulling the boat with him, as rescue personnel arrived on the scene.

Gardenfest at Loutit District Library

Wendy Schweifler, a local massage therapist, and New York-based retired nurse Viki Goldberg hosted Gardenfest at Loutit District Library on Saturday afternoon.

The event began with a packed Zumba class in the library's lower level; followed by the free four-hour festival focused on the benefits of proper nutrition, gardening, composting and music by Lew Russ. Raffle tickets benefited the local United Way and Spread the Music Foundation.
