Pregnant woman, child hurt in 2-vehicle crash

A pregnant woman was driving a minivan that was hit in the driver's side by a Jeep at a Grand Haven Township intersection on Monday evening. Carrie Sands, 20, was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital after the crash.

Hope College student hit, killed by train Monday

A third-generation Hope College student was struck and killed by a train Monday night in Holland. Police said Joshua P. Boerigter, 18, of Portage was walking along the train tracks near 12th Street and Lincoln Avenue, adjacent to the Hope College campus, when he was hit by a CSX Railroad train at 8:48 p.m.
