A Grand Rapids teenager was reported in distress after the kayak he was riding in overturned on Lake Michigan in Port Sheldon early Friday evening.
Three Grand Rapids teenagers - ages 15, 16 and 18 - were riding in a kayak, which overturned in waves shortly after 5 p.m., Ottawa County Sheriff's Sgt. Keith Garvelink said. Two of the teens were able to get back into the kayak, but the third did not. A witness on shore noticed the teen was in distress and called 911.
Upon arrival, all three teens had made it to a sand bar and were okay.
