A pastor who said he was inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement was arrested after refusing to leave Holland's city hall in protest of the city's decision not to expand its anti-discrimination ordinance.
A woman and her young son were hurt after a large branch fell from an oak tree and pinned them to the ground.
The Bay City Times reported that a man called 911 on Wednesday afternoon after seeing the woman and boy beneath the branch. They were taken to a hospital after fire crews lifted the branch.
Bay City Interim Fire Chief Karey Prieur said the woman and the 3- to 4-year-old boy were conscious.
Prieur said a number of children from a nearby school were in the area just before the branch fell.
About 20 fire chiefs from the Ottawa County Fire Chiefs Association gathered Tuesday evening for a water rescue demonstration at Grand Haven State Park, said Capt. Rick Yonker of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety.
