Interesting that to this point, there are very few votes for mental health and funding, or prison reform; they are so tied together. A very high percentage of mentally challenged individuals end up in prisons; there really isn't any other place for them to go. The more we ignore and sweep this issue under the table, the more we will read the stories that horrify us.
I look at this list and school funding is important, our roads are bad, we could use a little economic development, maybe some welfare reform, or the ever imaginary tax-free year. However, we could be changing a lot of lives, maybe including mine and yours, if we would think about those that have trouble doing that for themselves; in many instances. I would prefer to help a person through the bumps of life and live with a few bumps in the road.
How about focusing on cutting wasteful spending which is about all the government does?
