The Michigan Bucks will host the Dayton Dutch Lions tonight in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup at Oakland University. The Dutch Lions feature Western Michigan Christian graduate Joel DeLass, a midfielder on the squad. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

A trio of Tri-Cities players helped the Grand Rapids Crew U18 '94 MRL Gold club soccer team claim the prestigious Michigan State Youth Soccer Association State Cup this past weekend. Grand Haven's Jake Vanderlaan and Nate Rose and Spring Lake's Adam Clauss sparked the Crew to the State Cup victory. The tournament began with play in early May, and the Crew cruised through those early games, beating VMI Rush, 6-0; V Jags White, 8-0; and V White Eagles, 4-1.

A trip to the state basketball or soccer finals is nothing new for Western Michigan Christian fans, but a second-place finish Saturday at the Division 4 boys track finals at Jenison High School was a real surprise to coaches and fans alike. It's the first state finalist track trophy since the Warriors were runner-up in 1971.

Four second-half goals turned a 1-0 game into a rout Saturday afternoon and sent Western Michigan Christian to the regional tournament with a 5-0 district final win over Fruitport Calvary Christian. The Lady Warriors (16-3-2) will face Maple City Glen Lake at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elk Rapids High School.
