The West Michigan (District 6) U12 hockey team captured the bronze medal in the Meijer State Games earlier this month. The team is made up of several of the top players from across West Michigan. They lost in the title game by a goal, but bounced back in the bronze metal contest.

Several local athletes turned in outstanding performances at the Hershey State Track Meet, which was held on June 29 in Holt. Four younsters earned ribbons, which signify a top eight finish. Leading the way was Grant Ellis of Grand Haven, who took sixth in the 400-meter run in the Boys 9-10 division. He also competed in the softball throw and placed 19th.
