A Kalamazoo County farmer found a man's bones on his southwestern Michigan property, where they'd been for several years. Authorities said the farmer discovered the human remains Monday night on his land in Brady Township, about 10 miles southeast of Kalamazoo. Undersheriff Pali Matyas told the Kalamazoo Gazette that deputies got a call from the farmer. Authorities were going over the scene Tuesday. State police say the bones were from a man. WOOD-TV reported investigators believe the bones had been at the location 3-5 years.

The airport serving the Michigan city known for its annual Tulip Time Festival is shedding its floral name. The Holland Sentinel reported the governing board for what was known as Tulip City Airport in Holland on Monday approved the change to West Michigan Regional Airport. The board made the new name effective immediately, but the Federal Aviation Administration also needs to make the change official.

Police said three adults and an infant from Indiana were killed in a fiery head-on crash in southwestern Michigan on Sunday afternoon. Michigan State Police said the crash happened near Niles. Police said a pickup truck was eastbound on U.S. 12 when it left the road, went back onto the roadway and crossed the center line. The truck collided with a westbound car with four inside it. Both vehicles rolled and were engulfed in flames, and the pickup driver was able to get out.

A 24-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver in southwestern Michigan, officials said. The Berrien County Sheriff's Department said in a statement that Eric Boyd of Watervliet died after being hit Sunday night in Watervliet Township. Investigators said Boyd appeared to be walking on a dark roadway wearing dark clothes and listening to music. No other injuries were reported. A 23-year-old Watervliet man who was driving the vehicle was arrested and taken to the Berrien County Jail.

A brief getaway for two very young children Saturday evening ended safely. Moments after the two toddlers walked away from their home, they were discovered playing and unharmed in the railroad tracks near the intersection of Jackson and Fourth streets, confirmed Lt. Renee Freeman of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety.

Police said an Allegan County man suspected of gunning down his 73-year-old father has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Allegan County Sheriff's Department said Roger Polmanteer, 50, shot himself in the face with a rifle as deputies pursued him Friday. The Holland Sentinel reported he died Saturday afternoon. The Sheriff's Department said a relative found the body of Lloyd Polmanteer on Thursday in the Watson Township home he and his son shared.

A Fruitport woman was put on probation for three years when she was sentenced Monday in Ottawa County Circuit Court for embezzlement from a downtown Grand Haven business. Patricia Lou Shappee, 24, 391 Park St., had pleaded guilty to embezzlement over $1,000, but less than $20,000. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $25,452, as well as fines and costs of $198. Lt. Joe Boyle of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety said the embezzlement occurred at a business at 207 Washington Ave.
