Lakers top Muskegon Catholic Central in final Coastal Conference meet

Spring Lake's swimming and diving squad completed a strong season in Coastal Conference meets with a 112-71 victory over Muskegon Catholic Central on Thursday at the Spring Lake Aquatic Center. "We really went into this final conference meet with a focus: win,' said head coach Nikki Theune. "We knew, with a win, that the conference championship would be within reach. This time, SL survives the elements

Spring Lake's varsity boys soccer team hasn't had the best luck dealing with Mother Nature in the Division 2 district tournament. A year ago at Grand Rapids Northview, the Lakers had to play through a driving rain storm with whipping winds in a contest against the host Wildcats that was also delayed several times by lightening. To make matters worse, Spring Lake had its season ended on the dreary evening.

SL girls run to share of cross country title

Spring Lake's varsity girls cross country team earned a share of the Lakes Eight Conference championship by placing second at Tuesday's Fremont jamboree. The host Packers won Tuesday's event with 31 points, followed by the Lakers with 35. Ludington was a distant third with 77 points. Fruitport placed sixth with 170.
