The openers last weekend were slow but catch rates should pick up as warmer temperatures push into the state. Water levels are low in some of the rivers and inland lakes so use caution especially at the boat launches. Southwest Lower Peninsula St. Joseph: Salmon fishing is starting to pick up with limit catches reported. Saugatuck: Salmon fishing was steady with a few decent catches of chinook and coho in 60 feet of water. Spoons worked best.
