Spring Lake's varsity tennis team completely dominated host Fremont on Monday in an 8-0 shutout victory. The Lakers had three flights finish with 6-0, 6-0 scores, including Abbey Cook's win at No. 1 singles; Hayley Schram and Madison Khem's victory at No. 1 doubles; and Faith Lee and Morgan Khem's triumph at No. 2 doubles. Fremont managed to win only two games in its other doubles flights. Jori Henderson and Amanda Twu scored a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 for Spring Lake, while Stephanie Sabo and Maddie Parker won by a 6-0, 6-1 final.

Two of the most consistent girls track teams in West Michigan in recent seasons battled for the top spot at Saturday's 43rd annual Frank Grimm Relays at Wyoming Park High School. In the end, Hamilton, a top 10 finisher in last season's Division 2 state finals, edged Grand Haven in the final team standings, 110-82. "All day lnog it was Hamilton first and Grand Haven second,' said Bucs' coach John Tarr. "As always Hamilton has a strong team.'

John Potter already had plenty to celebrate this afternoon as he and his roommates graduated from Western Michigan University. Potter, a 2008 Grand Haven High School graduate, had even more to celebrate when his cell phone rang and he realized it was Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey. Gailey told Potter that the Bills were going to select him with their final pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
