A fleet of 12 competed in ideal wind and wake conditions, but the emphasis is on fast cruising. A non-competitive staggered start was used, which is determined by each boat's handicap. The course was determined by the win direction from the northwest, locating the rounding committee boat eight nautical miles southwest. This put the point of sail on a beam reach in both eight-mile directions.
