Several local athletes turned in outstanding performances at the Hershey State Track Meet, which was held on June 29 in Holt. Four younsters earned ribbons, which signify a top eight finish. Leading the way was Grant Ellis of Grand Haven, who took sixth in the 400-meter run in the Boys 9-10 division. He also competed in the softball throw and placed 19th.

The Hurley "Rip My Shred Stick Tour," a 30-stop nationwide tour that provides a no-pressure, fun surfing competition for children 16 and under, will hit the City Beach of Grand Haven on Tuesday.
