Grand Haven's varsity girls basketball team had to wait until Sunday to learn its opponent for Tuesday's Class A regional semifinals. In a game postponed three times because of weather, Petoskey edged Traverse City Central on Sunday afternoon, 46-39, in Traverse City. Petoskey has now won 13 of its last 14 games and is 13-9 overall heading into Tuesday's regional semifinal contest against No. 1-ranked Grand Haven, which boasts a 22-1 record.

Illinois Wesleyan forward Jordan Zimmer was shaken up late in the first overtime after being knocked to the floor by a moving screen set by a Hope College player. Zimmer not only got up, he returned to deliver the knockout punch against the nation's top-ranked NCAA Division III team.

Spring Lake's varsity boys basketball team gave Newaygo a proper send-off from the Lakes Eight Conference on Thursday by defeating the Lions, 75-65, in a contest that featured a wild fourth quarter in which a total of 51 points were scored. Newaygo will depart for the Central State Activities Association next season. Spring Lake, which wraps up its regular-season schedule at 11-9 overall and 9-5 in Lakes Eight play, outscored Newaygo 22-12 to take a 19-point lead into the fourth quarter.
