The effort to have a memorial honoring veterans killed in wars after World War I came to fruition on Monday with the installation of the Fallen Heroes Memorial. Retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Kenneth Kelly, co-chairman of the fundraising effort to place the memorial at Grand Haven's Central Park, said the installation went as planned.

A Spring Lake woman was injured and power was cut to part of the neighborhood Monday after a garbage truck slid through a stop sign and slammed into the woman's sport utility vehicle, and then a utility pole.
