SPRING LAKE TWP. — Two local women are taking “shop local” to the next level.

Renee Denslow and Christine Clover are hosting a Holiday Art and Good Living Show from 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Petty's Place, 17750 N. Fruitport Road in Spring Lake Township. Petty's Place is the former Coffee Gallery building at the intersection of Howard Street and Fruitport Road, north of Spring Lake Country Club.

Four ArtPrize artists — Christi Dreese (paintings), Chip VanderWier (metal art), Denna Arnold (painted furniture) and Top 5 finisher Tom Gifford (photography) — will be present, as well as jewelry and printed paper artists.

“We have a gal doing cold-press juices,” Denslow said. “It's all organic and she'll be giving samples. We'll have local beeswax products like lip balm and candles and greens — wreaths and trees.”

Santa Claus will be accepting wish lists during both shows.

The event includes complimentary wine and tea samples from Wellington Tea in downtown Grand Haven.

Admission is free.

“We're hoping it creates a gathering spot in Spring Lake,” Denslow said. “We're thinking about doing quarterly pop-up art shows. This is a great way to promote local artists and support our own artists, storefronts and buying local during the holidays.”
