Local art festival receives national recognition

The Grand Haven Art Festival has been named one of Sunshine Artist magazine’s 100 Best Fine Art and Design Shows.

The 2017 Grand Haven Art Festival ranked 14th out of 100 national shows.

“We are pleased that our event has garnered national recognition, earned a higher ranking than previous years and is well supported by the artists who participate,” said the festival’s director, Mary Sherman. “We pride ourselves in making the Grand Haven Art Festival a pleasant and rewarding experience for every artist, and hope to continue providing and exceeding this level of satisfaction.”

Sunshine Artist is the fine art and craft industry’s leading publication for promoters, exhibitors and clients. The magazine ranks the shows based on the feedback of the attending artists, who are asked which 10 shows from the previous year were the most profitable for them, and then by identifying themselves as fine artists or craftspeople.

The Grand Haven Art Festival is a juried show. This year’s show, the 57th annual, was June 23-24.

The application for 2019 will open online in December. For more information, visit
