The Spring Lake boys basketball team put on quite a performance this winter, winning their second consecutive district title before giving the eventual Class B runner-up Cougars a run for their money in the regional semifinals.

The Lakers’ most impressive feat this winter, however, may have come in the classroom.

The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan released their Academic All-State rankings with the Spring Lake boys finishing No. 1 in Class B with a team overall GPA of 3.785.

The mark also fell second overall in Michigan across all four divisions, trailing only Class A Detroit Catholic Central at 3.872. It is the fifth time since 2010 that the Lakers have received Academic All-State honors.

Also cracking the top 10 in Class B from the area was Whitehall at No. 9 with a GPA of 3.543. Montague finished as an honorable mention at 3.285.

In Class D, Muskegon Catholic Central cracked the honorable mention list with a team GPA of 3.361.
