The Spring season is well underway, but it is never too late to celebrate hoops.

Grand Haven’s Alli Keyser added another honor to her illustrious career this week as she was named to the Detroit Free Press All-State list, joining four other girls on the “Dream Team” from Division 1 as first-team honorees.

Keyser was selected based on her 17.3 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game and 3.7 steals per game for the Bucs this season.

Joining her as first-team recipients are Cheyenne McEvans of Southfield A&T, Jeanae Terry of Wayne Memorial, Shine Strickland-Gills of Saginaw Heritage and Destiny Strother of Flint Carman-Ainsworth.

Keyser wasn’t the only local girl to crack the list. Western Michigan Christian’s Taylor Folkema earned an honorable mention selection for Division 3, while Fruitport Calvary Christian’s Kelsey Richards and Brionna Johnson earned Division 4 second-team and honorable mention distinctions.

On top of the Free Press dream teams, the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan announced their All-State selections last week with a slew of local competitors cracking the list.

Keyser led the wait with a first-team selection, while Richards earned a Division 4 first-team selection Johnson secured an honorable mention.
