The Spring Lake girls soccer team stayed perfect in O-K Blue Conference play Monday night with a 7-0 defeat of Grand Rapids West Catholic.
Taylor Colquitt returned to the turf from injury in style, netting the first goal of the game. Sara Gray took the second goal, while freshman Meah Bajt finished off the first half with a goal, assisted by Laney Peasley.
The Lakers hit the gas pedal in the second half, with Bajt striking again, this time assisted by Lauren Hewitt. Peasley scored next, assisted by Phoebe Saunders who rounded out the second half scoring with a header off a corner kick from Rose Henke.
Kamryn Lewkowski manned the net for the full 80-minute tilt.
The win improves the Lakers to 11-1-2 on the year. They return to action today at Comstock Park.
Fruitport baseball blows by Muskegon
The Fruitport baseball team dominated its O-K Black Conference doubleheader with Muskegon Tuesday night, winning by scores of 17-1 and 18-2.
Brodie Boes took the win in Game 1, throwing three innings and giving up one unearned run on zero hits allowed with five strikeouts. Luke Mitchell led the offense with three hits, while Luke Hronek knocked two.
Mitchell and Jerod Avery combined for three innings pitched in Game 2, giving up two unearned runs with one walk and five strikeouts. Hronek led with two hits and three RBIs, while David Ross worked three walks to go with one hit, and Chase Campbell totaled three RBIs.
