Hyde coached the Laker girls for four years from 2011 through the 2015 season before stepping down to spend time with his family.
In his final season, Hyde coached the Lakers to their first ever 20-0 regular season and their eventual 23-1 record stands as the best in the program’s history. His four-year stint ended with a 59-28 record.
“He is exactly what the program needs,” said Spring Lake athletic director and outbound girls head coach Mohrhardt. “He is great with kids and really a student of the game. He’s going to bring the program a step farther.
“To me, it was an obvious choice. He has already been there he will fit right in and the program won’t miss a beat. It will take off.
“He’s been coaching in our junior high programs, so he knows all the girls coming up and on the team. He’s never stopped helping out. He has a good grasp on his talent and what to do with them. He is already working on where he wants to go with the schedule and will be able to fit right in.”
Most recently, the Lakers finished the 2018-19 season 11-10 overall with a loss to Oakridge in the district semifinals.
