Teitsma named Realtor of the Year

SPRING LAKE TWP. — The West Michigan Lakeshore Association of Realtors formally installed its 2018 Leadership team on Jan. 13 at Spring Lake Country Club.

Assisting in the installation and making an inspirational speech about overcoming obstacles in life was Justice Richard Bernstein of the Michigan Supreme Court.

ReMax Lakeshore agent Heidi Parsons of Spring Lake was installed as the 2018 president.

Joining her on the Board of Directors are Melissa Heyer (Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt, Grand Haven) as president-elect/treasurer; Mark Oegema (@HomeRealty) as immediate past-president; and board members Andrew Boehm (Five Star Lakeshore), Luke Bouman (@HomeRealty), Gordon Naumoff (Coldwell Banker Muskegon), Jim Fett (Nexes Realty), Carrie Eppard (Core Realty Partners), Sharon Johnson (Greenridge Muskegon), Marty Fahey (Coldwell Banker Grand Haven), Dean Kreps (Greenridge Holland), Martha Thomas (Eastbrook Homes) and Kimberly Ryan (Five Star Lakeshore). 

The association also awarded five prestigious awards during the evening's program, including the Realtor of The Year, bestowed upon an individual for significant dedication and service to the advancement of the organization. The 2018 recipient was Michelle Teitsma from Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt, Grand Haven. Teitsma is a past-president of WMLAR and currently serves as District 2 director for the Michigan Realtors Association. 

Loraine Griffin of Keller Williams’ Holland office was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award; longtime WMLAR staff member Judi Henshaw from Grand Haven, who will be retiring in April, received the Distinguished Service Award; Affiliate of the Year honors went to Jan Frazier, from Transnation Title Services in Muskegon; and Jack Bouman, Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt, Holland, was presented Realtor Emeritus status from the National Association of Realtors in recognition of more than 40 years of continuous service and involvement in organized real estate.
