The village will host Negen’s training session from 8-11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Seven Steps Up, 116 S. Jackson St. The “Climbing the Customer Service Pyramid” event is open to the public.
Negen opened the Mackinaw Kite Co. in Grand Haven when he was 23. Over the next 20 years, he honed his business and marketing skills, growing the company from $17,000 in first-year sales to a multi-million-dollar business.
In 1999, Negen launched WhizBang! Training with his wife, Susan, also a skilled retailer. He co-authored a best-selling book, “Marketing Your Retail Store in the Internet Age,” as well as several other retail expertise books. He co-created the Retail Mastery System and spends much of his time as a motivational public speaker aiming to help other business owners grow their stores and succeed.
Angela Stanford-Butler, director of the Spring Lake Downtown Development Authority, said she hopes business owners from the entire Tri-Cities area attend next week’s training session.
“He's so engaging, informative and fun,” she said. “We're lucky that we have access to a nationally known and in-demand speaker. Last year's session was really appreciated, so we wanted to be sure to bring him back so that businesses can start their year out on a high note.”
Registration is $69 per person and includes a continental breakfast buffet.
The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7. Registration forms are available at (and must be turned in at) Spring Lake Village Hall, 102 W. Savidge St.
