The executive director of Love in Action of the Tri-Cities has resigned after just 16 months with the social services organization.

David Ten Cate, chairman of the Love in Action Board of Directors, said Michael Stowell resigned May 7. He did not provide a reason for the resignation.

“We wish Mike the best as he pursues other opportunities in his field of expertise,” Ten Cate said in a press release.

Stowell replaced Katie Appold as the organization’s executive director in January 2017. Appold had held the position for three years.

Love in Action of the Tri-Cities is a Christian-based organization that provides local services including food trucks, men’s and women’s shelters, clinics, and food pantries. It was formerly called Love INC of the Tri-Cities.

In the coming months, the organization will search for a new executive director. Another member of the board, Larry Ritsema, has been appointed to oversee management as the interim executive director.

“We are excited Larry has agreed to serve in this interim role,” Ten Cate said. “During and upon the conclusion of this transition period, Love in Action is and will remain committed to helping our neighbors in the Tri-Cities community through more than 25 different ministries of support.”
