Area non-profit organizations are making their wish lists, and checking them twice, hoping you’ll find in your heart to fulfill them, which sure would be nice.

Bluebird Cancer Retreats: In an effort to help people who are experiencing cancer.
Wish List: Gift baskets, gift cards to local restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores and service providers; candles, playing cards, adult coloring books and pencils and volunteers.

Heaven Can Wait Animal Haven: With nearly 400 cats and kittens in inventory, this organization strives to find foster and permanent homes for all.
Wish list: Kitten chow, adult kibble and canned food.

The Salvation Army: Helping to meet human needs, without discrimination.
Wish list: Financial donations or non-perishable food items like canned cranberry sauce, corn, green beans gravy and yams; boxes of instant mashed potatoes, refrigerated ham and frozen turkeys.
To donate: Unwrapped toys and other items can be delivered from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 310 N. Despelder Ave. in Grand Haven.
Bucs Pride: Grand Haven Public School's cancer awareness program delivers baskets to families affected by cancer.
Wish list: Chap stick, hard candy, books (word-find, etc...), Dune Dollars and monetary gifts.

Tri-Cities Kiwanis Club: Operates the Santa House in downtown Grand Haven, sponsors the Harbor Island circus and runs the pediatric care salmon tournament.

Grand Rapids Civic Theater: Aims to bring the magic of theater to life for over 90,000 people in West Michigan.

Humanity for Prisoners: Strives to alleviate suffering for those serving time.
Wish list: Multi-purpose copy paper, Staples gift cards, postage stamps, gas cards and cash gifts (matched dollar for dollar in December).

American Legion, Post 28 Goodfellows: Provides backpacks and gifts to children in need.

Tri-Cities Area Habitat for Humanity: Assists in building affordable housing in our community.
Wish list: At the ReStore, 408 N. Ferry St. – gently used or new building materials, appliances, cabinets, flooring, lighting, windows, doors, furniture, tools and donated storage space for inventory. For building projects, needs include wheelchair ramp materials, volunteers (experience not required), donated buildable lots. Administration offices need upgraded computer software, volunteers, monetary donations, used vehicles, raffle items.

Kids' Food Basket Muskegon: Nourishes children to reach their full potential.
Wish list: Bulk Cheerios, pretzels, Goldfish, raisins, Nutri-Grain bars, pudding cups, fruit cups, applesauce, snack and sandwich zip-lock bags.

Ed & Nancy Hanenburg Children's Advocacy Center: Provides prevention and intervention for child sexual abuse cases.

Embrace Books: A free bookstore that strives to make books accessible to everyone in West Michigan.
