Urick named Big Sister of the Year

• Feb 3, 2018 at 4:00 PM

On Wednesday, Jan. 31, Lisa Hegenbart, executive director of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, presented Amy Urick with the 2018 Big Sister of The Year award.

The presentation was made as a surprise at the Tri-Cities Kiwanis weekly meeting at the Eagles.

Urick, who is a director and committee chairperson for the Kiwanis Club, also participates with Big Brothers, Big Sisters as a mentor (big) to a student (little) in the area.

“Amy’s exceptional work and dedication to her ‘little’ far exceeded the mentoring guidelines,” Hegenbart said. “Amy helped to facilitate school and educational matriculation for her student, including financial aid to allow the child to participate in Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and school band.”

“We feel that Big Brothers, Big Sisters works great with the Tri-Cities Kiwanis and our mission statement of ‘Serving the Children of The World,’” said Kiwanis Director Bill Swano. “Amy epitomizes the wonderful goals and efforts of both organizations.”

Kiwanis meets at noon on Wednesdays at the Grand Haven Fraternal Order of Eagles location, 20 N. Second St., Grand Haven. Information can be found at www.tricitieskiwanis.org.
