GRAND HAVEN TWP. — A ribbon cutting, open house and tours are all planned for Friday’s opening celebration of the Tri-Cities Historical Museum’s new Community Archive and Research Center.

The event will begin with a ribbon cutting at 4:45 p.m. at the Center’s new location, 14110 172nd Ave. Refreshments will be served.

Guided tours of the Center and the collection warehouse will begin every 15 minutes, starting at 5:15 p.m. The last tour will begin at 6:45 p.m.

The museum board decided to move their archive facility to the same property as their collection warehouse when the building became available from Harbor Industries.

This allowed the museum to consolidate their entire permanent collection onto one property, according to Meredith Slover, curator of collections.

The Center will have a large research room that will be open to the public during normal business hours. It will also serve as a drop-off site for donations.
