Decked out dad

Port Sheldon Township resident Kevin McNutt was the winner of a Traeger grill in a Father’s Day “Deck Out Dad” promotion hosted by Rycenga Building Center and the Grand Haven Tribune.

Sunday afternoon, McNutt posted a picture on social media and said he had the grill fired up and was throwing burgers on it for the inaugural use.

“The burgers turned out amazing,” he said.

McNutt’s favorite thing to throw on the grill is a classic cheeseburger, but with his new pellet-fired grill, McNutt is looking forward to starting a new hobby of smoking whole chickens and meats, he said.

The Grandville firefighter said he saw the promotion advertised on the Grand Haven Tribune Facebook page and decided to sign up. McNutt said he was excited about the variety of things he can do with his new grill.

The grill came with a grill cover, a cookbook, two bags of pellets and a $50 gift certificate to Frank’s Meat Market.

“I dedicate the first grilling to all the dads out there and to my favorite grill master in heaven, Adam Henry McNutt III, or as I like to call him: Dad,” McNutt posted.
