Roadside leaf collection continues

Roadside leaf collection is underway in Ferrysburg and Spring Lake Village.

Ferrysburg public works employees admitted there weren’t as many leaves as usual to pick up Monday, likely because of the weekend snow cover. However, residents in the early part of the pick-up area should not worry, as crews will be out again next week.

If Ferrysburg residents don’t get their leaves raked in time for the pick-up service, they can bag them and take them to the Ferrysburg Department of Public Works service garage at 410 Fifth St. Place them on the west side of the building. These leaves must be in paper bags.

The Village of Spring Lake provides the fall leaf pick-up program through Nov. 21. Leaves must be raked onto the street and off the lawn, except for the leaves on M-104 (Savidge Street). The hose on the village’s vacuum truck is limited in length; therefore, piles on the lawn are hard to reach.

Residents on M-104 will continue to bag leaves for village crews to pick up.
