Civilian response to active shooter incident trainings offered

WEST OLIVE — There is still space available in upcoming sessions of the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events.

The training sessions are conducted by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. They take place at the county’s Fillmore Complex, 12220 Fillmore St., West Olive, on Friday, Jan. 25; Wednesday, Feb. 27; and Monday, March 4. The sessions run from 7-10 p.m.

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course was developed by ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) and provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter situation.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and should bring a picture identification, such as a driver's license or state-issued ID.
