A Holland man charged with uttering and publishing apologized for stealing a check in Grand Haven before he was sentenced Monday in Ottawa County Circuit Court.

“I’ve had a rough life. I know what I did was wrong,” said James Edward Green II.

Green said he needed time to do things right and he has the tools to do it.

“I know what I need to do. I just need to do it,” he said.

Judge Karen Miedema sentenced Green to a year in jail with credit for 73 days already served.
