A 46-year-old West Olive man will spend 60 days in jail after being convicted by a jury of drunken driving for a December 2016 incident in Robinson Township.

During his sentencing hearing on Monday, Jeffery Kouw said that he was getting in a few last drinks following a workout before the deadline he and his wife created to stop drinking alcohol and pop due to health concerns.

Kouw was charged with third-offense drunken driving, as well as having an open container of alcohol in his car. His two prior drunken driving convictions were from about 19 years ago.

Kouw was also ordered to pay a $1,100 fine on the two charges, and his vehicle was ordered immobilized for a year.
