A 29-year-old Grand Rapids man faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading no contest to a charge that he molested a 6-year-old girl in Grand Haven Township.

Although Tyler R. Wizner did not enter a guilty plea in Ottawa County Circuit Court on Monday, the no-contest plea is handled as a guilty plea when it comes to sentencing.

Wizner also pleaded no contest to a charge of accosting a minor for immoral purposes. This charge carries a penalty of up to four years in prison.

In exchange for his plea, a more severe charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct was dismissed.

During the hearing on Monday, officials noted that Wizer used lubricants and touched the girl’s vaginal area with his fingers in an incident that occurred in early July 2017. Wizner was arrested a few days later and bond was set at $25,000.

Wizner was free on bond at the time of his plea, but was remanded to the Ottawa County Jail to await his sentencing on April 2.
