SPRING LAKE — Clapping filled the hallways and sidewalks at St. Mary’s Catholic School on Tuesday afternoon.

The parochial school’s staff and students cheered and sang “When the Saints Go Marching In” as a parade of younger students walked throughout the school in celebration of All Saints’ Day.

Eighth-grader James Muntean explained the special day as one to celebrate all the saints and to look at them as being good role models.

The dedication and attention to saints is also a way for students to put time into considering the type of person they want to be now and in the future, added eighth-grader Macy Carey.

As younger students in particular put time into learning about the saints and dressing up as them for the day, eighth-grader Gabrielle Easterly said it’s “awesome” seeing their efforts and understanding what the saints represent.

Remembering her participation in All Saints’ Day in the past, eighth-grader Olivia Twa said she likes to see the tradition carry on.
