Each Friday on the pages of the Tribune and online at grandhaventribune.com, we will highlight a Classroom of the Week.

This feature sheds light on the work students and teachers are doing, and it lets the community know what makes each class special.

Teacher's name: Garth Trask

Number of students: 20 students

School: Jeffers Elementary

Grade: First Grade

What makes your classroom special? The students! They are energetic, positive, and eager to learn everyday.

What is your classroom's motto? Not sure if it is a motto but I say it almost everyday – "I hope you make many mistakes today."

What is your classroom the most proud of? Our classroom is an inclusion classroom and these first-graders have embraced and learned how to be more compassionate, kind, and empathetic to each and every boy and girl.

Fun fact about your classroom: We huddle up and cheer often throughout the day.

What would you like the community to know? First-graders are naturally curious, kind, and fun. Simply by being who they are, they help make each other and their teachers better people. It is a blessing to be able to teach these boys and girls.

Classroom of the Week is sponsored by Little Smiles and Smile Orthodontics.
