Grand Haven Area Public Schools’ Board of Education recently approved a 2 percent increase for 128 staff members belonging to the 517M union, which includes operations, food service and transportation departments.
The group previously settled a three-year contract from July 2017 to June 30, 2020, which called for the pact to open for the final year to negotiate wages for the 2019-20 school year. For each year of the agreement, the group received 2 percent increases, said Scott Grimes, the district’s assistant superintendent.
"We are fortunate to have such dedicated and caring staff in this group,” Grimes said. “They take great pride in their jobs and our school district. We wouldn't be as successful without their outstanding contributions each and every day."
