SPRING LAKE — One by one, students and staff at a Spring Lake elementary school poured sprinkles over the heads of educators on Friday morning, the last day of school for local districts.

Complete with ice cream, bananas, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, cherries and sprinkles, Holmes Principal Sandra Smits, special-education teacher Mike Rotman, S.T.E.M. teacher Abe Overway and physical education teacher Dan Robinson were turned into human sundaes.

The fun activity is something Macy Subka said she will remember for years to come. The fourth-grader said it made for a fun and exciting day.

Students cheered as classmates poured toppings on the educators, who sat in little plastic pools and inflatable inner tubes.

By grade level, students added the toppings before everyone added sprinkles to finish the sundaes.

Fourth-grader Aveya Patino said she liked that everyone had a chance to participate.

“It’s funny,” said fourth-grader Amelia Arnold, who noted that Holmes educators got wet during a dunk tank last year.
