Deer family attracts attention

A doe and two fawns attracted a lot of attention as they snacked along the roadside on a main route to Grand Haven’s waterfront late last week.

The animals seemed hardly concerned about bicyclists stopping to take pictures and cars coming to a stop for a view at the site on Jackson Street west of Third Street.

A salon employee nearby said the trio are frequent visitors.

Grand Haven Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke encouraged spectators to look, but keep moving so as not to block traffic.

“Monitor the wildlife closely, and go at or below the speed limit in the area,” Hawke said.
