SPRING LAKE — Earlier this week, the village received a $2,500 check from Consumers Energy as part of its tree grant program.

The $2,500 goes toward planting 25 trees in the rights of way throughout the village, according to Village Manager Chris Burns.

The village also received $250 from the Consumers Energy Foundation because Tree Board member Erik Poel, a Consumers Energy employee, has donated more than 48 hours as a village volunteer. Poel has served on the village’s parks and tree boards since April 2012.
