SPRING LAKE — Senior citizens sipped coffee, dunked doughnuts and bantered during bingo Monday at the Spring Lake Heritage Festival's Senior Day, which took place at Mill Point Park.

About 60 seniors in attendance were also treated to a Color Guard ceremony by VFW Post 2326. The ceremony included a flag procession and playing of “Taps.”

Following bingo, volunteers scooped up ice cream for the seniors.

Sharyn Westerhouse said she loved the bingo games.

“We appreciate them doing this for us,” she said, “and we appreciate that we're not forgotten.”

Rosemary Van Oosterhout said she also enjoyed the bingo.

“I like that they allow us to have some fun,” she said.

Wednesday's Heritage Festival highlight is Family Fun Night from 5:30-8 p.m. at Mill Point Park. The event includes games, a Spring Lake Lions Club picnic, ice cream social, face painting, inflatables, robotics competition, and police and fire department vehicle tours.
