WRIGHT TWP. — A 52-year-old Conklin man was injured when his motorcycle was hit from behind early Wednesday morning.

Charles Rasch suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the 5:55 a.m. crash, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies. He was in stable condition when an ambulance transported him to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Rasch was riding his 1976 Honda motorcycle south on Eighth Avenue when he slowed to turn onto Dixon Street. That’s when he was rear-ended by a car driven by 22-year-old Roger Shanks of Sparta, police said.

The car went into a ditch on the east side of the road after the collision. Rasch was thrown from his motorcycle.
