FRUITPORT TWP. — A 30-year-old Fruitport Township man was injured when his moped was struck by a car Friday evening.

Abe Styburski was riding a moped on West Fruitport Road near South Eighth Avenue at about 8 p.m. when a car pulling out of a driveway struck him.

Fruitport Township police said the driver of the car, a 30-year-old Nunica man, had nosed a short distance out of the driveway, saw the moped coming and pushed in his clutch so he could go in reverse. The car, however, rolled forward before going into gear and went just far enough to hit the moped, police said.

An ambulance transported Styburski to a Muskegon hospital. Styburski posted on social media that he suffered a broken leg.
