CROCKERY TWP. — A Muskegon man suffered non-life-threatening injuries when his minivan went off the road and crashed into a Crockery Township barn Monday evening.

Police said that Aaron Nelson, 54, was reaching to plug in a cellphone when his 2003 Ford van went off the road shortly before 7 p.m.

Nelson was traveling east on Leonard Road, near 104th Avenue, when his van went off the road and struck a utility pole, a large landscaping rock and then a storage barn, said Sgt. Matt Wildfong of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. There was no one in the barn at the time.

An ambulance transported Nelson to Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. He was in stable condition at the time, Wildfong said.

Nelson was ticketed for careless driving.
