Local bass anglers currently 12th at national tourney

Grand Haven’s Hunter Scharphorn and his teammate, Jake Dorony, sit in 12th place after the opening day of action in the FLW College National Bass Fishing Championships on Lake Keowee, South Carolina.

Scharphornand Dorony caught five bass weighing in at 12 pounds, 2 ounces on Thursday. At the time of their weigh-in, they sat in first place. However, several other teams weighed in bigger bags, bumping the team from Lake Superior State University to 12th place. 

Zachery Hines and Reed Foster of Dallas Baptist University sit in first place at 15 pounds, 3 ounces. 

The pair are back on the water Friday in hopes of improving their standing.
