The No. 6-ranked Zeeland East football squad proved to be too much for Fruitport to handle Friday night, as the Chix reeled off 333 yards of offense in a 56-14 rout of the host Trojans.

The Chix jumped out to a 27-0 lead in the first quarter, thanks in part to great field position.

After a three-and-out possession by the Trojans, Huizenga would turn in another big play when he hauled in a punt at the Fruitport 46-yard line and take it back to the house for a 21-0 Zeeland East lead.

On the next Zeeland East drive, running back Josh Fusco took a carry 15 yards for a score, extending the lead to 27-0.

Fruitport would find some life on the next drive, when quarterback Jakob Carlisle connected with Hunter Gannon for a 15-yard touchdown pass to put the Trojans on the board.

The Chix would take momentum back shortly after that when Fusco scored on a 1-yard plunge into the endzone for a 34-7 lead early in the second quarter. Fusco would add a 3-yard rushing score shortly after that for his third rushing score of the day.

Zeeland East would add a 10-yard touchdown pass from Ensing to Blake Hildenbrand to enter halftime with an insurmountable 48-7 lead.

The Chix would answer back with a 1-yard score and added a two-point conversion to bring the game to its final tally.
