Fruitport falls to Mona Shores in final game of season

The Fruitport football team took on juggernaut Muskegon Mona Shores in their season finale Friday night, falling to the Sailors, 49-6.

Mona Shores jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, and added three touchdowns in the second, one in the third and one in the fourth to reach their final tally. The Trojans managed one score in the second quarter on a touchdown pass by Jakob Carlisle to Aric Stewart.

Carlisle would finish 7-for-22 passing for 96 yards and one touchdown, while Jordan Gilbert finished 2-for-4 passing for 11 yards.

Stewart led in receptions with four on the day for 67 yards and a score, followed by Sam Steinhauer with three catches for 36 yards. Mason Brown and Logan Wadland also hauled in one catch each.

Dominick Colegrove led the rushing attack with 30 yard on 17 carries, followed by Carlisle with 22 yards on seven attempts. David Ross racked up 15 yards on five attempts to round out the Trojans’ positive rushers.

Steinhauer led the defense with six total tackles, with three for losses and one sack. Hunter Gannon followed with five total tackles, one for a loss.

The Trojans end their season with an overall record of 2-7 and a conference record of 1-5.
